Merhba!
Welcome to The Maltese Association of Western Australia! Founded on a shared love for our Mediterranean heritage, our association serves as a vibrant cultural bridge for the Maltese-Australian community across WA. We are dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich traditions, language, history, and unique spirit of Malta, while fostering a welcoming space where generations—both old and new—can connect.
The association began as an informal social group of Maltese “New Australians” in the 1950s, who had migrated during the heavy post-WWII migration wave. They started meeting up around Perth to support one another, share news from home, and keep their culture alive.
The club oficially opened in 1958, and today we are proud to be a not-for-profit, incorporated association, which runs the Maltese-Australian Community Centre in Bassendean.
We extend an invitation to all to come down and enjoy our Friday social nights and our special events.
